Rangers Celebrate Sophomores, Battle Peninsula to the Buzzer
Olympic College honored its sophomore class on Saturday and delivered a gritty effort against North Region leader Peninsula, ultimately falling 75–56 in Bremerton. The Rangers traded runs with the Pirates and found sparks from both the starting group and the bench, but Peninsula's balanced scoring and late shot-making proved decisive.
Carmayla Jackson was highly efficient inside, scoring 12 points on 6–9 FG while adding 6 rebounds and a block. Khari Deberry provided instant offense off the bench with 14 points (5–8 FG, 2–3 3PT), and Whitley Goble added 10 points on 4–7 shooting, including 2–2 from deep. Ollie Decker battled on the interior for 4 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 blocks, while Cesaria Pelagio chipped in 7 points and 4 boards to keep Olympic within reach through three quarters.
Sophomore Night: Thank you, Rangers
Before tip, the program celebrated three sophomores whose leadership has helped elevate the standard over the past two seasons:
- Kanzas Mills — A steady two‑way guard and vocal leader whose toughness and late‑game poise have defined tight wins throughout the season.
- Nevaeh Thew — A defensive engine and connector who sets the tone with on‑ball pressure and playmaking instincts. (Honored on the Sophomore Night program.
- Nashayla Fellows — A versatile forward who embraces the dirty work, defends multiple spots, and embodies the team‑first ethos. (Honored on the Sophomore Night program.
Their impact goes beyond box scores—road trips, locker‑room moments, and a relentless practice standard that has pushed this roster forward. The ovation they received reflected what they've meant to the jersey.
What's next
The Rangers close the regular season on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at Edmonds, a matchup that may still carry playoff implications as North standings tighten heading into the final week. Peninsula remains atop the division, underscoring the quality of Saturday's opponent and the level Olympic expects to see again in March.
