Rangers Roll Past Shoreline in Conference Home Win
The Olympic College women's basketball team turned in a dominant conference performance Saturday afternoon, defeating Shoreline College 80–45 at home to improve to 10–6 overall and 1–1 in NWAC play. The Rangers had to battle early, but through some timely substitutions and using balanced scoring, interior control, and defensive pressure, the Rangers went on to secure the convincing victory.
Olympic built a solid 37–18 halftime lead behind strong play in the paint and active defense that limited Shoreline's shooting opportunities. The Rangers continued to extend the margin in the second half, outscoring the Dolphins 43–27 while controlling the glass and tempo throughout the game.
The frontcourt duo of Nashayla Fellows and Ollie Decker anchored the win with commanding double-double performances. Fellows finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds, consistently attacking inside and converting at the free-throw line. Decker added 16 points and 10 rebounds, providing a steady presence on both ends and helping Olympic dominate the boards.
Olympic also received strong contributions across the lineup, with Cesaria Pelagio scoring 11 points and pulling down eight rebounds, while Whitley Goble added 11 points off the bench to give the Rangers an offensive spark. Nevaeh Thew chipped in 10 points, and Carmayla Jackson filled the stat sheet with 10 points and nine rebounds as Olympic showcased its depth and balance.
The Rangers finished with a decisive advantage in rebounding and points in the paint, reflecting their physicality and unselfish play. Olympic's defensive effort forced tough shots throughout the afternoon and fueled transition opportunities that helped stretch the lead.
Olympic continues conference play on the road Wednesday, January 14, traveling to Whatcom Community College for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
