Rangers Clamp Down Defensively in Home Win Over Highline
The Olympic College women's basketball team continued its strong play at home Tuesday night, earning a 60–44 victory over Highline College in a defensive-minded matchup at the Bremer Student Center. The win improved the Rangers to 10–5 overall, while Highline fell to 2–9 on the season.
Olympic set the tone early with disciplined defense, holding Highline to just 14 points in the first half and forcing difficult shots throughout the night. The Rangers steadily built their lead behind strong interior play and consistent effort on the glass, then pulled away in the fourth quarter by outscoring the Thunderbirds 22–14 to seal the win.
Ollie Decker delivered a strong all-around performance, finishing with 14 points and 10 rebounds to anchor Olympic in the paint. Cesaria Pelagio added 11 points and nine rebounds, narrowly missing a double-double while providing steady scoring and physical defense. Whitley Goble came off the bench to score 12 points, giving the Rangers a lift during key stretches of the game.
Olympic's defensive pressure created scoring opportunities on the other end, as the Rangers turned turnovers into transition baskets and controlled the rebounding battle. Carmayla Jackson contributed eight points and five rebounds, while Khi Tall Bull provided energy off the bench with five points and five rebounds. The Rangers finished with a decisive edge in points in the paint and bench scoring, reflecting their depth and physicality.
With another complete team effort, Olympic showed its ability to win through defense and rebounding when shots are not falling.
Conference play begins Wednesday as the Rangers travel to Skagit Valley College for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
