Rangers Fall to Whatcom in Four-Set Road Battle
Bellingham, WA – The Olympic College Rangers opened strong on Wednesday night, taking the first set 26-24 against Whatcom Community College at the WCC Pavilion. However, the momentum shifted as Whatcom responded with three straight set wins (25-18, 25-14, 25-20) to secure the match.
Setter Ella Tallon led the Rangers' offense with 31 assists, 11 digs, and 5 service aces, keeping the team competitive throughout the match. Haley Cassity posted 8 kills and 2 solo blocks, leading Olympic in total points. Olivia Webster added 8 kills and a team-high 13 digs, while Danika Francis contributed 7 kills on a .235 hitting percentage and added a solo block.
Whatcom's Kamryn Hermanutz proved to be the difference-maker, recording 17 kills on a .457 hitting percentage along with 14 digs and 18 total points. Her performance helped the Orcas control the tempo and close out the match.
With the loss, Olympic looks ahead to their next home match on Friday, October 31, when they host Edmonds College for Sophomore Night. First serve is scheduled for 6:30 PM at the Bremer Student Center. Come out and support your Rangers!
