Rangers Hold Off Shoreline for Key Conference Win
The Olympic College men's basketball team earned a hard-fought 92–89 conference victory over Shoreline College on Saturday afternoon, pulling away late in a tightly contested matchup at the Bremer Student Center. The win moves the Rangers to 4–15 overall and 1–1 in NWAC play, snapping back with momentum after a narrow defeat earlier in the week.
Olympic weathered a strong opening half from Shoreline and trailed at the break before responding with renewed energy on both ends of the floor. The Rangers shot efficiently in the second half and made timely defensive stops down the stretch to secure the win in a game that remained in doubt until the final possessions.
A key storyline belonged to Jazel Brown, who delivered a standout performance against his former school. Brown finished with 21 points on 9-of-14 shooting, attacking the basket with confidence and providing steady scoring when Olympic needed it most. His poise and shot selection helped stabilize the Rangers during critical stretches in the second half.
Olympic also received strong contributions across the lineup. Nathaniel Campbell added 19 points and nine rebounds, continuing his consistent two-way play, while Reece Rheinschmidt posted a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds, controlling the glass and anchoring the paint. Eric Woods chipped in 15 points, knocking down timely perimeter shots to keep pressure on the Shoreline defense.
Despite Shoreline's physical play and late push, Olympic maintained composure, executed offensively, and closed the game at the free-throw line to seal the conference victory. The Rangers' second-half efficiency and balanced scoring proved to be the difference in a game defined by toughness and momentum swings.
Olympic continues conference play on Wednesday, January 14, traveling to Whatcom Community College for a 5 p.m. tipoff.
